Ownership and lawful hosting
Rights in books and other works remain with their authors, publishers and other rightsholders. Software, branding and original content belong to their respective owners or licensors. Access to the library transfers no ownership in a work.
Before making a work available, the library provider must establish a valid licence, permission, public-domain status or a specifically applicable statutory exception. Keep evidence of that basis. An educational purpose, private-study audience, free access, a subscription charge or removal of download controls does not by itself authorize hosting or communicating an entire book to the public.
User permissions
Read works within the access your account permits and the applicable licence. Share links to public book pages. Quotations, accessibility uses and other exceptions must meet applicable law and any valid conditions. Do not assume that every educational use is fair dealing or that attribution alone replaces permission.
Do not bypass access controls or reproduce, distribute or systematically extract protected works without authority, except to the extent a legal right cannot be restricted by these terms.
Reporting an infringement or ownership concern
Use the public copyright or grievance contact below. Include the title, author or edition, the book-page URL, your contact details, the rights you hold or represent, and a clear explanation of the concern. Provide supporting evidence where available; do not send unnecessary sensitive identity documents.
For an existing account, Library support is an additional route. Rightsholders must also have a public contact method that does not require membership or payment. A request to contact us does not restrict your right to seek judicial or other lawful remedies.
Review and response
The provider will assess credible requests promptly, seek clarification where necessary, and restrict access or remove material when warranted or legally required. Applicable legal or court-ordered deadlines take priority. The provider should acknowledge the request, preserve appropriate records, check licence evidence and explain the outcome where lawful. No automatic reinstatement is promised.
A materially false request may cause harm and may carry legal consequences. A good-faith disagreement or incomplete initial request should not automatically result in denial of correspondence. Affected contributors may provide evidence for review, but material must not be restored without an adequate lawful basis.
Application owner and provider responsibilities
The library provider controls its publication decisions. The application owner supplies technology and has its own obligations where applicable. This allocation is not a declaration of intermediary immunity and does not waive third-party rights. Neither a disclaimer nor an indemnity makes unauthorized hosting lawful.
